Actor Van Vicker Appointed As Ambassador


Actor Van Vicker on a recent trip to Liberia as a special guest of the Federation of Liberia Youth (FLY) was honored as a Goodwill Ambassador for Culture and Entertainment.

At the conferral ceremony, Liberia’s Vice President Joseph NyumaBoakai described Van Vicker as a role model and an inspiration for many young people in West Africa.
“Your humble approach and artistic mastery on the screen bring hope to many young people.” Boakai pointed out. “It is our hope that this Ambassadorial role will spur you to further promote African culture and its illustrious entertainment industry.” Boakai added. www.mustaphainusah.Com

Van had traveled to Liberia as a special guest of honor for the observance of its 41stanniversary celebration of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY). FLY is the umbrella group of youth and student organizations in Liberia.

The iconic movie star, popularly known as “Raj” trip to Liberia included his involvement in activities such as an anti-stigmatization parade,soccer Olympic involving Ebola Survivors

Raj walked side-by-side Ebola survivors through the streets of Monrovia. “I walked with the survivors to send out the important message that being an Ebola survivor does not call for you to be ostracized “ . Van Vicker stressed. “They {Ebola survivors} are important ad valuable members of the society. Let’s embrace “Van Vicker enumerated.

The celebrated movie star also participated in a symbolic white-washing of the wall of Liberia’s biggest referral health center, the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Monrovia.

Raj joined the health center’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bennie Johnson in the painting exercise which was a symbolic show of Liberia’s declaration as an Ebola- free zone.

“White symbolizes purity and the white paint is a symbolic means of erasing the stain Ebola earlier had on this nation.” Van Vicker noted.

The Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) is the umbrella institution of all youth and students organizations in Liberia. It was established on the 31st day of May 1974 and enacted through an act of National Legislature on September 20, 1978.

It’s clothed with the authority to superintend and coordinate the activities of the youthful population of Liberia. The Federation was at first called the Urban Youth Council but was later altered to reflect a broad based representation of Liberian youth into the Federation.
