A political group; Action Youth for Mahama, have resolved to ensure victory for President John Dramani Mahama and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming general elections slated for November 7, 2016.
Co-founder of the group, tells Herald in an exclusive interview that, the group has been functioning in Accra, since its inception for the past five months.
Haruna Ibn Yahaya Musa, said the group, was an assembly of young professionals in various field, who are determined to do whatever it takes with their own resources to ensure a second term victory for President John Mahama.
He revealed that, Action Youth for Mahama, has set its sight in the Ashanti region to boost the party’s chances in the region, hence their decision to do their national launch in Kumasi.
“We believe that if we work hard we can attain the 1.5 million votes during the 2016 elections in the region
Even the one million votes the President is targeting in the region was an underestimated. We can do a lot better than one million votes in
Ashanti,’’ he noted
He said, the group has helped strengthen the party structures in Accra and is poised to help the party in the Ashanti region do same, after its launch on May 28, 2016.
Action Youth for Mahama, believes their presence in the Ashanti region, will help NDC Serial callers, who are currently refusing to work due to some unaddressed challenges they face.
Haruna Ibn Yahaya Musah, explained that serial callers in Accra, are now excited about their job, because of the help rendered by the group and expects that same would be done for those in the Ashanti region.
The group, he explained resources itself through members’ contributions to campaign for President Mahama and the NDC.
“Our first objective was to galvanize the youth to register during the limited registration exercise and we are now looking at early voting on the day of elections since we lost several votes because people turned out late to vote during the last elections,” he maintained
The group’s founding member, who also doubles as the financial Director of the group, called on interested youth, who have the zeal of working to retain the NDC in power to join .
He also posited that, immediately after the Kumasi launch, they are moving straight to the three Northern regions and subsequently proceed to the Mamprusi land, where he contested as a parliamentary candidate for the 2012 elections.
He promised to collectively work closely with the party’s aspirants to make sure president Mahama secure 90 percent of the Mamprugu votes
On his part, Abdul-jalil Abdul-Rahaman, Co-founder of the group, also said that the president has done excellently well and urge all appointees of the government to live their comfort room and come out to vigorously campaign, without fear to help the President toast on his second term bid.
