The marriage between musician Kwame Obeng-Asare and fashion blogger, Akosua Violet Ab Bannerman, was held last Saturday at a location in Accra, after days of media speculation.
The much-awaited Nuptial Blessing which brought together, families, friends and well wishers, also witnessed the deployment of men from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) who guarded the entire ceremony to ensure an incident free programme.
It is not clear, why and how the men in uniform, were deployed to the venue of the ceremony. but events leading to the wedding, may have led to their presence, The Herald, has gathered.
The musician turned politician, also known as Kwame A Plus, who received a “Thank You Letter” from Nana Akufo-Addo after campaigning for him to win the 2016 elections, had decried few weeks to his marriage that, some girlfriends of his, had ceased every communication with him, following his decision to pick AkosuaVee.
“My grandfather, opnin Kweku Duku married 18 women. They never fought. They lived happily together till he died at 98 years. I posted a picture of just one wife and all my girlfriends have stopped picking my calls kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa today’s women paaaa di3 boi…. Masre saaaa ok cool. You people can go.
If I was your brother, will you ask me eat jollof for the rest of my life? Herh Ghana girls #Ababullshit so nyin. The picture di3 I won’t stop posting. Still Akosua Ab Bannerman #comfortablelead”, he posted on 20 February, 2017.
Videos of the colourful traditional wedding, posted on the musician cum comedian’s facebook page, have raised eyebrows as to why a civilian, will have about a dozen army officers to guard his marriage and even display what some believe to be acts that are unethical in the full glare of the public.
The officers, who didn’t only guard the ceremony from possible drama from jilted girlfriends of the musician, but saw the officers taken to the dancing floor with erotic displays behind some ladies and also showing their strength by doing what is called “press ups”.
A TV3 reporter, Komla Kluste, who questioned why A-Plus had soldiers at the event, was insulted in a snap chat video by the musician in very unprintable words. He asked “Soldiers serving as guards at A Plus wedding” Really?
Kwame A-Plus, who described the journalist as sympathizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), questioned why he would ask him that when brother of the ex-President John Mahama, used to have soldiers guarding his house?
He asked why the journalist, will be worried about the presence of the officers, when Ibrahim Mahama, wasn’t the president, but was being guarded by army officers.
He branded the television station as NDC and warned they wOULD come at them, if they do not mind their business in the next four years.
A Plus, who turns 40 in some few weeks, says he can’t be questioned, because the officers were in uniform, because they were coming from work.
Many of the celebrity guests and known faces that attended the traditional wedding of A-Plus and AkosuaVee, who is also a celebrity stylist were; Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Holy Trinity Spa, Dr. Anyaa, actress Nana Ama Mcbrown and husband, Maxwell Mensah, Wutah Kobby, EIB boss, Kwabena Anokye Adisi aka Bola Ray, Ghone TV presenter, Bassiwa Dowuna Hammond etc.
Many are of the view, the only reason A-Plus is getting military protection at his wedding is because of his closeness with Nana Akufo-Addo, whom he had campaigned for and even faked internet stories for to undo the then President, John Dramani Mahama.
The NPP through its media, had in the past condemned the use of soldiers even at the residence of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, although the soldiers were there, because President Mahama was.
